Darkfall ran in two main eras: Darkfall Online from 2009 through 2012, and Darkfall Unholy Wars from 2013 through 2016. The full-loot system, the active skill grind, the city sieges, and the naval combat created a complete sandbox PvP loop that no other game has fully replicated. The audience that came up through Darkfall continues to shape every full-loot project in active development, including Mortal Online 2, Albion Online, and most of the niche revival projects in the space.
