Jagex's browser MMO with the most cited PvP environment in the early-2000s era. The Wilderness produced a generation of full-loot stories that the genre still trades on. Old School RuneScape preserves the format actively.
RuneScape's Wilderness produced more full-loot PvP stories per capita than nearly any other MMO of its era. The 2007 removal of Wilderness PvP (the "PvP World" replacement) was one of the most controversial design decisions in MMO history, and the eventual 2011 restoration plus the 2013 launch of Old School RuneScape have kept the original PvP format alive for a community that values it deeply. OSRS's continued development by an unusually responsive Jagex team has made it one of the most active classic MMOs in operation.
