Squad released 1.0 in 2020 after years in early access. The 50v50 large-scale combat, the squad-leader-led structure, and the voice comms requirement produce a shooter that punishes the lone-wolf style most modern FPS audiences default to. The game has no pro circuit but the community-organized clan and tournament scene runs at a level of operational seriousness that most casual FPS players struggle to engage with.
