Star Wars: The Old Republic launched in 2011 as one of the most expensive MMOs ever produced. The cinematic storytelling carried the launch, but the PvP infrastructure (Warzones, ranked arenas, and the underrated Galactic Starfighter mode) has retained a smaller dedicated competitive community for over a decade. Broadsword took over operations from BioWare in 2024.
